The Harrisburg Heat defeated the Baltimore Blast in a thrilling overtime victory on Saturday, January 27th at the Equine Arena in the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex. A great crowd of 2,077 fans watched as Dominic Francis scored on a free kick in overtime for the golden goal finish to the game.
The Heat were down by one goal with less than seven minutes to play in the fourth quarter when Malcolm Harris scored a power play goal assisted by Dominic Francis. After a final six minutes and seven seconds of exciting play with no goals being scored, the game went to overtime. Six minutes into overtime, a Baltimore player was penalized with a blue card tripping penalty just outside the penalty box. After a time out was called by the Heat to draft up a free kick play, Dominic Francis ended the match with his game winning goal.
The Harrisburg Heat out shot the Baltimore team by a margin throughout the game. The Heat finished with twenty-four shots on goal while Baltimore was held to just fourteen shots for the game. Jorge Navarrete needed just four saves in the nets for Harrisburg while Mike Zierhoffer recorded eleven saves for the Baltimore Blast
Harrisburg goals were scored by Dominic Francis with two goals and Elton de Oliveira and Malcolm Harris each scored one goal for the Heat. Assists for the Heat were recorded by Francis and Danny DiPrima with one each.
Moises Gonzalez scored two goals for Baltimore and Patricik Thompson also scored a goal for the Blast. Oumar Sylla, Tony Donatelli and Juan Pereira all had an assist for Baltimore.
Harrisburg Heat return to the road next weekend with games in St. Louis and Milwaukee on February 2nd and 3rd respectively. The Heat return home to the Equine Arena in the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex on Friday, February 23rd and Saturday, February 24th as they play the Monterrey Flash and the Baltimore Blast in the home games that weekend.
