Heat Sign Goalkeeper Jorge Navarrete

Prior to the Heat’s last game in Baltimore, the club signed goalkeeper, Jorge Navarrete to a contract for the remainder of the season. Navarrete started in the nets for the Heat in their game against the Baltimore Blast which ended in a 5-3 loss. Navarrete has played the previous four season for the Florida Tropics along with Hugo Silva. Last year, Navarrete started 16 games for Florida and recorded a goals against average per game of 5.31. With the addition of Navarrete, the Heat now have two goalkeepers with MASL experience. Grant Glorioso started the first eight games for the Heat this season.

Visa Issues

The league continues to have visa issues this year and that has greatly impacted the Harrisburg Heat season. The team was relying on the return of Hugo Silva who has proven over the years to be one of the top goalkeepers in the MASL. While Silva has attended Heat practices and home games, he has been not eligible to play this season. The Heat management continues to try to get Silva eligible by exploring other visa options. Visa issues have also prevented Daniel Villela, James Vaughan and Davinson Diaz from playing for the Heat this year.
