The Harrisburg Heat announced three new player contracts today, including the re- signing of Tommy and David Mellor and the signing of JJ Gibson in Free Agency. Per team and league policies, terms of the agreements were not disclosed.
Gibson recently moved to Lancaster, where his wife is from, and is looking forward to the season.
“I spoke with (GM and Head Coach) Pat (Healey) about his plan for the team and it is something I really want to be a part of. This move to the HEAT has been a long time coming. I am very excited to be back home after being away for over four years. I am looking forward to playing in front of my families, friends and most importantly the Harrisburg Heat fans,” states Gibson “I know and played with most of the guys for quite a while now. I know the upcoming season will be a great one. Let’s go HEAT!!!”
Heat fans may remember Gibson surprising his girlfriend during a Heat game with a marriage proposal back in the 2016-2017 Season.
The Mellor brothers both renewed their contracts as well. Both grew up in Manchester United Academy and now coach locally with CASA. Tommy has been with The Heat since their return in 2012 and David just finished his third year.
“I am delighted to be extending my contract with the Heat, and I am very thankful to Pat and (Heat Owner) Carl (Delmont) for giving me the opportunity to play. The fans are brilliant and working with the guys every day is great! Pat is certainly building something special here and to be a part of it playing with your brother and still learning the game from one of the greats is something you can’t turn down!”
David is also optimistic, “Very pleased and excited to extend my contract with the Heat. I am looking forward to working and progressing under Pat! With the squad we are building we can be pushing for championships and I am excited to be a part of that. I’d also like to thank the fans for the continued support since being here!”
The Heat play in the Major Arena Soccer League at Freedmont Mortgage® Field at Farm Show Arena.
