Kansas City Scores With One Second Remaining In Overtime

The Harrisburg Heat were defeated by the Kansas City Comets by a score of 6-5 Thursday night.  The Comets scored the game winner on a deflected goal by Lucas Rodriguez with one second remaining in overtime.  The loss puts the Heat at 9-5 and they remain in fourth place in the Eastern Conference.  The top four teams make the playoffs.

The loss was a seesaw match where neither team had more than a one goal lead throughout the game.  The Heat took the lead with ten minutes remaining in the game on a goal by Nelson Santana assisted by Dom Francis.  Lucas Rodriguez tied the game on a power play goal with 4 minutes and 32 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter forcing the overtime period.  The Heat had several chances in the overtime but could not score the winner.

The Heat were led offensively by Daniel Villela, Francis and Santana.  Each of them had a goal and assist in the game.  Additional goals were scored by Marcel Berry and JJ Gibson.  Tavoy Morgan also recorded an assist.  William Banahene had eighteen saves in the goal for Harrisburg.

Lucas Rodriguez finished the game with three goals and Leo Gibson had three assists for the Comets.

The Heat stay on the road as they play away games in St. Louis and Milwaukee on Saturday and Sunday.  The  game in St. Louis on Saturday will kick off at 8:05 P.M.
