The Harrisburg Heat tasted victory against The Florida Tropics tonight to get that much closer to clinching a playoff spot. The final score of 11-6 shows they dominated the play throughout the game.
Tom Mellor put the first score in the net with 10:48 left in the first quarter. By the time the Heat went into halftime, they had a 5-0 lead which would provide the momentum that would carry them through to the end of the game. The Heat’s Gonzaga posted 4 goals and Carvalho scored 3, leading the game in scoring.
Though tied for second in the Eastern Division going into the game with 8-9 records, this victory puts Harrisburg to the advantage. They will again face each other tomorrow, and Florida will be looking to hang onto their hopes by defeating the Heat as a win will keep them in the playoff race.
The Heat is ready tomorrow to enjoy their final 7:05 p.m. Homestand of the regular season, hopefully with a win to clinch the playoffs. A jersey auction sponsored by Pennsy that benefits Harrisburg River Rescue will be featured immediately following the game. Their final season game is March 5 at Baltimore.
