The Harrisburg Heat is ready for their final homestand against Florida Friday and Saturday.  The game is an important one for both teams as the playoff race is a tight one.

Harrisburg stands second behind Baltimore in the Eastern Division but are neck and neck with Florida.  With such a close race, the Heat isn’t looking to the standings or to count on anyone else winning or losing.

“We need to rely on no one but ourselves to make the playoffs,”  said Carl Delmont, Heat GM/CEO.  “We need to sweep Florida.  It’s been a heck of a turnaround and I’m proud of the team.  I’m hoping for the best.”

Coach Denison Cabral echoes Delmont’s thoughts as he and the team prepare for the weekend.

“We will need to watch out for all players on Florida’s team,” stated Cabral. “They will be pumped as they have good motivation.  You’re talking about two teams in direct confrontation, trying to make  playoffs.”

Florida is coming off of 2 wins, while the Heat lost their last one on the road.  The Heat’s last homestand was a rough one with back to back OT loses.

“We’ve missed chances at home before but it can’t happen again,” asserted Cabral. “We’ve got a tremendous focus on coming out and winning Friday, and then Saturday.  We want to guarantee that playoff opportunity this weekend.”

The Heat will host a Celebrity Game on Friday (kick off 7:35) with ABC 27, FOX 43, CBS 21, local radio personalities and even a Bachelorette alum in attendance.  State High School Soccer Champ teams Trinity (Girls AAA), Lower Dauphin (Boys AAA) and Fairfield (Girls A) will be in on the fun and recognized as well.  Community Aid will also be there to collect clothing donations.

Saturday night (kickoff 7:05)  features the End of Season Jersey auction, sponsored by Pennsy and benefits Harrisburg River Rescue.
