Heat SoccerThe Harrisburg Heat, coming off of a loss to the Baltimore Blast last weekend have proven that on-the-road can be a challenge for the team.

“We didn’t get win in Baltimore, and on the road we haven’t fared well,  especially against Syracuse,”  commented Heat Owner, Carl Delmont.  Despite the losses, Delmont is positive about the outlook for the next half of the season.

“We are half way through the season.  Ten more games and the way I look at it is we are a lot like an expansion team, as we have brand new coaching, brand new players.  We’ve already won more games this season than the last two seasons combined,”  said Delmont.  “We continue to learn, grow and gel.”

The loss in Baltimore did have some bright spots.  Goals from the likes of  Francis, Mellor and Birche continue the Heat trend of a well-balanced team.

“Lots more guys have been getting playing time; everyone is behind the ball.  There are lots of injuries, but that means we continue not to rely on any one player,”  remarked Delmont.  It is also noted that Delmont credits the recent Baltimore loss to foolish penalties and two power plays, both avoidable with the right mindset.

The main focus for the team this weekend as they go up against the St. Louis Ambush on Friday and the Chicago Mustangs on Saturday is to not make mistakes and stay together as a team.

St. Louis is coming off of a dual loss to Florida over the weekend.  Their record stands at 1-11, placing them at the bottom of the rankings for the Central Division.

Chicago, ranks better at third in the Central Division with a 10-6 record, however they, too are coming off of a loss to the Milwaukee Wave.  Taylor Bond is their top scorer by far and is one to watch.

It’s anyone’s game this weekend as Delmont nods to the great job of the MASL this season in organizing the league at this point in the season.

“There’s a lot of parity in the league,” stated Delmont.    “This snapshot in time, everyone’s legit.  No question, the Heat has the potential to win and we’re looking to bring two back to Harrisburg after this weekend.”

The Heat take on St. Louis @ 7:35 CST on Friday and then Chicago @ 7:05 CST on Saturday.

The Heat’s next home game will take place on January 27 against Syracuse at PA Farm Show Arena.  Get tickets at http://www.harrisburgheat.com/.
