The Harrisburg Heat are pleased to announce two new player signings.  The Heat have signed defender, Michael DeGraffenreidt and midfielder/defender Malcolm Harris.  Both are first year players in the Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) and both players were signed to three year contracts.  Per team and league policies, financials terms of the agreements are not disclosed.

Harrisburg Head Coach and General Manager Pat Healey is excited to bring these players into the MASL as member of the Heat.

“I believe these are two special signings.  I coached both Malcolm and Michael in youth soccer so I know them very well.  Malcolm is a technical player that has the ability to play multiple positions effectively.  He had a great college career at UMBC and I look forward to him developing into a great professional player.  Michael can change the game with his speed and toughness.  He was a rock-solid defender at University of Louisville and in time he will be that for the Harrisburg Heat.  I am honored to have these two players join our team and I look forward to them joining our returning core of players.”

Michael DeGraffenreidt has many accolades throughout his young career.  Coming out of Maryland as the state high school player of the year, DeGraffenreidt went to college at the University of Louisville where he was a four year starter.  At Louisville, DeGraffenreidt was honored on the All Rookie Team and All Conference Team.  After college, Michael was invited to the Major League Soccer (MLS) combine and was drafted in the third round of the 2017 MLS Super Draft by New York City FC.  After suffering an injury in training camp for New York City FC, DeGraffenreidt began his professional soccer career for Nashville SC in the United Soccer League in 2018.

“I am looking forward to this new experience and I am humbled to be a part of this organization.” said DeGraffenreidt.

Malcolm Harris also has had many achievements in his soccer career.  Harris was a high school All American at McDonogh High School in Maryland and was a member of the United States Youth National Team.  Malcolm was a four year starter in college with his first year being at the University of Denver and then transferring to UMBC for his last three years.  Harris help lead the UMBC team to the NCAA Division 1 Final Four in 2014.  In 2015, Harris was named to the All East Region 1st Team and was named Defender of the Year in the America East Conference.  Harris began his professional career in Sweden in 2018 playing for Sala FF.

“I’m really excited to have signed with Harrisburg,” said Harris.  “I’m looking forward to working with Coach Healey and the rest of the squad.  Indoor is a different game from outdoor so I look forward to learning from the veterans and other guys.  It’ll be fun!”

The MASL  stretches across North America with teams in the United States, Mexico and Canada.  The Harrisburg Heat’s first home game will be on Saturday, December 7th at the Farm Show Arena.  Game time is 7:05 P.M. ET.  The 2019-2020 MASL schedule is expected to be announced this Fall.  For ticket information, please contact the Heat at tickets@harrisburgheat.com.
