Harrisburg goalie Hugo Silva allowed just 2 goals on 17 shots in Saturday night’s win over the Florida Tropics.

The Heat had a big night in the race for the playoffs, defeating Florida 6-2 and finding 2nd place in the Eastern Division.

Hugo da Silva was a huge asset to the Heat, making save after save in the first half as Florida had many missed goal opportunities. The first quarter went scoreless, and it was about halfway through the second period when Lucio Gonzaga broke through and found the back of the net. Tropics Marco Rodriguez countered and the score was tied. The Heat’s Dominic Francis posted another goal to make it 2-1 going into halftime.

Harrisburg came out for the third quarter strong. Freitas scored and the defense was doing their job keeping the Tropics from finding the net. Hugo Da Silva continued his strong showing throughout the game, blocking more missed chances by the Tropics.

Brad Kerstetter put one in the goal for the Heat. The Tropics then earned another score by JP Reyes to make it 4-2.

A tag team Lucio Gonzaga and Fernando Gatica served up another goal going into the 4th quarter. A final tap in by Tom Mellor made the final score 6-2.

The Heat with a record of 7-8 will play the Tropics back to back Friday 2/24 and Saturday 2/25 at home. For tickets to see the action visit https://harrisburgheat.com/tickets/.
