Heat Post Historic Win Over Blast In Eastern Division Playoff Game 1

Never losing the lead throughout the game, the Heat soundly and confidently took control out of the gate and never looked back.

The heat was truly on in Baltimore tonight as the Harrisburg Heat defeated reigning Champions the Baltimore Blast in Playoff Game 1.  Never losing the lead throughout the game, the Heat soundly and confidently took control out of the gate and never looked back.

Baltimore didn’t capitalize on many opportunities as “Saved by Silva” was a big theme tonight.  Rookie Heat goalie Hugo DaSilva was incredible, impressing all in the stands with his saves, ball handling and performance in general.

In the first quarter, Leo Duartes scored his first goal of the season, getting the Heat off to a strong start.  Dominic Francis, Thiago Freitas and Tom Mellor followed with additional goals and by the half, the Heat were leading 4-1.

Tom Mellor led out in the second half, continuing the Heat momentum with his second score of the night, making the score 5-2.   The Blast answered by putting another into the net to close the spread to 5-3.

The fourth quarter saw a closer match as the Blast began to close the gap.  5-4 almost turned to 5-5 until the goal was called back on a ref call.  In the end, the score remained 5-4, FINAL and victory belongs to the Heat.

With nothing to lose in this game, the team brought to Baltimore a dominant performance, continuing the path of believing in destiny.  The Heat’s first appearance in the playoffs since 2000, this win is a truly historic accomplishment.

The Heat will take on Baltimore in Game 2 of the Eastern Division Playoffs at the PA Farm Show Arena on Tuesday @ 7:35 p.m. EST pending the possibility of an approaching snow storm.  Weather postponement date is Wednesday night, same time.

The Heat win keeps the series very competitive as they must win the next game to clinch the Eastern Division Playoff.  If the Blast win the next game, there will be a mini game to decide the series victor immediately following the game.  For tickets to the game, visit http://www.harrisburgheat.com/tickets.
