Former DC United And Philadelphia Union Star Will Make His Harrisburg Debut In Weekend Games Against Syracuse And Baltimore

Harrisburg Heat have signed veteran soccer player Helbert Frederico Carreiro da Silva, commonly known as Fred. The former DC United and Philadelphia Union star was approved by the league and will be added to the 20 man active roster for the games this weekend.

“We are excited to bring in his experience and leadership,” said Harrisburg Heat Head Coach Denison Cabral. “Fred has adjusted to our game effortlessly.”

Fred will help bolster the team as it deals with injuries to several starters.

“Despite an inordinate amount of injuries since preseason , the team is still in the playoff hunt and the rookies are playing well,” said Heat General Manager Carl Delmont.

“We were talking with teams about potential trades thinking that Fred was a longshot, but he attended some of our games, then practices and asked to be a part of our turnaround,” Delmont added.
