The Harrisburg Heat, coming off of a big 7-4 win against the Baltimore Blast on Friday, December 30, is looking to turn that victory into a full-on winning streak.  It is the first time the Heat beat the Blast since over 14 years ago.

“We were just talking about that in practice,”said Defender Stephen Basso of that gap in wins against the Blast.  “Coaches Denison and Gino, they were saying that history can be made.”  Basso was named by the MASL Defender of the Week this week after a goal and assist that secured the win.

A historical moment certainly describes what took place on Friday, however Harrisburg is now turning their attention on Syracuse.

“It’s been a short week, and we’ve been working on many of the small things in practice”  said Basso.  “We need to keep playing with a lot of passion and heart.  No pointing, no blaming, just unselfish play for the team.”

Syracuse lost to Baltimore last weekend 6-3.  Leading Baltimore early in the game, top scorers were Antonio Manfut and Kenardo Forbes.  Baltimore owned the fourth quarter, turning a 3-3 score into a 6-3 victory.  Staying in the game until the end is where the Heat will have an opportunity to dominate Syracuse, along with keeping Heat momentum going in one direction as a team.

“If there’s one single element that helped us get the win against Baltimore it’s that we came together a lot,” said Team Captain Basso.  “We need to celebrate our goals together as a team.  We’re trying to go on a winning streak.”

Harrisburg travels to Oncenter War Memorial Arena this Friday @ 7:00 p.m.  The Heat’s next home game will take place on January 27 against Syracuse at PA Farm Show Arena.  Get tickets at www.harrisburgheat.com.
